Paul Gowers

Creative Director, Writer and Director

Hello, I’m the founder of Buddy and a writer & director of films.

My favourite work is marked by warmth and wit, nuanced performances and authentic and emotive storytelling

I've been lucky to make films for some of the best brands in the world and work on some great behaviour changing and awareness campaigns for Non Profit Organisations.

I’ve also helped countries, cities and sporting bodies to win some major prizes. I was a creative director on London’s 2012 Olympic bid, England's 2018 World Cup bid and a consultant on the winning Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Olympic bids.

Outside of creating branded film content and advertising, I write and direct factual TV, TV drama and films. Credits include Our Gender Swap wedding for Sky Living,‘Queen & Country’ (a 1 hour ITV Jubilee special), Anderson (a comedy pilot starring Mark Williams and Mark Benton for Channel 4) and four award winning short films including the BAFTA long listed Waiting for Conkers and Ripple, winner of 11 International awards and screened at more than 50 festivals.

Prior to Buddy, I was a Creative Director at global agency Imagination and the Founder & Creative Director of Wilder. It's here I started my writing partnership with Jim North. Together we've won more than 40 International awards including the New York Festivals Grand Award, a Cannes Gold Dolphin Award and the IVCA Grand Prix.

Jim North

Writer and Actor

Hello. I’m Paul’s writing partner. Together we aim to make films that deliver their message in an entertaining way through good storytelling.

Before I met Paul I was a comedian, nominated for a Perrier award at the Edinburgh Festival and tipped by some newspapers to be an international superstar before the decade was out. Strangely that didn’t quite come off but I did write numerous series for Radio 4, jokes for various topical TV shows and some episodes of the Montreaux award winning adult puppet show, Fur TV.

I first collaborated with Paul at Imagination, then at Wilder and now at Buddy. We’ve worked together on a wide range of films, some corporate, some not. A lot of which have scooped up awards along the way. But I’m sure he’s told you about that already.

Away from Buddy I spend most of my time in a voiceover booth either trying to coax you into buying products you didn’t realise were essential for true happiness or screaming excitedly as foolhardy people attempt the world’s toughest obstacle course only to fall in the water.
